The 2026 Jaecoo J5 compact SUV has been confirmed for an Australian arrival in February 2026, although local pricing and specifications are yet to be confirmed in full.

Measuring 4,380mm long, 1,860mm wide, 1,650mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,620mm, the J5 is of a similar size to the Hyundai Kona, MG ZS, and the Mazda CX-30, vehicles it will likely compete against in the compact SUV segment. 

Three powertrain options will be available for Jaecoo’s latest offering: a petrol engine, a BEV powertrain and a series-parallel hybrid. 

The petrol option consists of a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, producing 108kW and 210Nm, paired with a CVT transmission. 

While official details remain scarce on the fully-electric powertrain, Jaecoo claims a driving range of 402km on the WLTP cycle. Local type approval documents also suggest this powertrain will feature a front electric motor, producing 155kW. 

The series-parallel hybrid option uses a 1.5-litre engine, although no performance specs have been confirmed by the brand. 

While the full equipment list is yet to be detailed, the J5 comes equipped with an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system and an ADAS safety suite. 

The J5 also boasts 480 litres of boot space with the second row up and 1,284 litres with the rear seats folded.
