Jaecoo Australia has confirmed the J5 EV will arrive in local dealerships in January 2026, launching with a single, highly equipped variant known as the Track.

This new electric compact SUV distinguishes itself with a unique focus on pet-friendly features and durability.

Roy Munoz, Chief Commercial Officer for Omoda Jaecoo Australia and New Zealand, highlighted the vehicle's specific appeal to animal lovers.

"No other vehicle currently offers a pet-friendly interior and a large selection of accessories," Mr Munoz said.

The interior upholstery is finished in a silicone-based synthetic leather that the manufacturer describes as antibacterial, wear-resistant and easy to clean.

According to the manufacturer, this material choice is designed to withstand the wear and tear of pets better than traditional automotive leathers.

Jaecoo will also offer a range of specialised accessories for the model, including a dog carrier and a waterproof cargo mat.

Standard comfort features include heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone air conditioning and a glass roof equipped with a powered sunshade.

The J5 EV Track is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor that generates 155kW of power and 288Nm of torque.

Jaecoo claims this powertrain allows for a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.7 seconds.

Energy efficiency is rated at 143 watt-hours per kilometre, providing a WLTP driving range of up to 402 kilometres on a single charge.

When connected to a DC fast charger, the battery can be replenished from 30 to 80 per cent in approximately 28 minutes.

The vehicle also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality and offers a non-braked towing capacity of 750 kilograms.

Inside the cabin, technology is centred around a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.88-inch digital driver instrument cluster.

Connectivity features include both wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with an intelligent voice command system.

A 50W wireless charger and an eight-speaker sound system are also included as standard equipment.

The exterior design features 18-inch "aero" alloy wheels, LED projector headlights, a power tailgate and an EV-specific front grille with active aerodynamics.

Safety specifications are comprehensive, with seven airbags and a 360-degree around-view monitor fitted as standard.

The Track variant includes a suite of advanced driver assistance systems such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK).

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) are also included in the safety package.

Jaecoo Australia provides an eight-year unlimited kilometre warranty that covers both the vehicle and the high-voltage battery.

Owners will also benefit from an eight-year capped-price servicing program.

Full pricing details for the J5 EV Track are expected to be announced closer to the January launch.
