Nissan has announced the next-generation QASHQAI will be offered exclusively with its e-POWER hybrid technology in Australia from 2026.

The shift to an all e-POWER line-up marks the end of traditional petrol-only QASHQAI variants.

The e-POWER system uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine to generate electricity that powers the electric motor driving the wheels.

Unlike conventional hybrids, the engine never directly powers the wheels.

According to European figures, the latest e-POWER achieves fuel consumption of 4.5L/100km (WLTP), a 16 per cent improvement in real-world efficiency.

Highway fuel consumption improves by 14 per cent, while CO2 emissions fall 12 per cent compared with the outgoing model.

The European-spec system also provides a 1200km theoretical range on a single tank and delivers quieter operation, with cabin noise reduced by 5.6dB. Sport Mode output increases by 10kW for more responsive performance.

Australian-specific efficiency and performance figures will be confirmed before local launch.

Key engineering components for the e-POWER X-in-1 powertrain are produced at Nissan Casting Australia Plant in Dandenong South.

This facility is the global sole supplier for these parts, making Australia central to the brand’s electrification strategy.

Nissan confirmed the MY26 QASHQAI e-POWER range will arrive in the first half of 2026. Pricing and detailed model specifications will be announced closer to launch.
