2026 Nissan Micra: All-New Electric Hatch Revealed
Nissan’s all-new Micra has been shown, and it’s closely related to the Renault 5 – which ain’t no bad thing.
The 2026 Nissan Micra has made its global debut, with the electric hatchback sharing its platform with the Renault 5 E-Tech.
In Europe, Nissan will offer two versions of the Micra: an entry-level grade with a 90kW electric motor and 40kWh battery driving the front wheels, and the range-topping model, with a 110kW e-motor fed from a 52kWh battery.
The driving range for each is said to be 308 kilometres and 408 kilometres respectively.
While the larger battery increases the model’s weight to 1524kg, the smaller-battery version tips the scales at a relatively slight 1400kg.
Both models have Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability – allowing owners to power everyday electrical devices – but only the higher grade Micra is compatible with 100kW DC charging, which can recharge the car from 15 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.
Inside, the Micra echoes the Renault 5, with dual 10.1-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment, while a Harman Kardon premium sound system has been spotted in photos.
Out back, the boot offers 326 litres of luggage space.
Nissan is offering a lot of colour and styling options on the Micra, allowing the buyer to change the vehicle to suit their personal tastes.
Inside, there are three different trims, while on the outside there are three different designs for the 18-inch wheels, and 14 paint colours to choose from – including two-tone options with a black or grey roof.
Exact dimensions have yet to be announced, but the Nissan is believed to be longer, wider, and taller than the Mini Cooper electric hatchback – one of the Micra’s direct rivals.
“Micra is a brilliant product and we’re thrilled to see it return to the Nissan line-up,” a spokesperson for Nissan Australia told CarSauce.
“At this time, Micra is available for European markets only.”
While there’s been no official confirmation of either the Renault 5 or the Nissan Micra for Australia, CarSauce understands both brands have put their hands up to offer the electric hatchbacks locally.
