Jaecoo has confirmed the addition of the J8 to its Australian line-up, with the SUV set to go on sale in June. The J8 will be priced from $49,990 drive-away for the 2WD Track variant, while the AWD Ridge variant will start at $54,990 drive-away.

The new model follows the Jaecoo J7 and offers a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 183kW and 385Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can select between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.

The Track 2WD comes standard with dual 12.3-inch LCD displays, a 14-speaker sound system, synthetic leather seats with heating and ventilation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 360-degree camera. It also includes massaging seats, a power tailgate, and inbuilt navigation.

Stepping up to the Ridge AWD adds a torque-vectoring AWD system, adaptive damping, second-row side airbags, automatic parking, and additional ambient lighting. It also introduces an in-built fragrance system and suede headliner.

Fuel consumption is listed at 8.3L/100km for the 2WD and 8.6L/100km for the AWD. Four exterior colours will be available: Arctic White, Carbon Black, Ocean Blue, and Iridium Silver.

Safety features include up to 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems. These include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane departure prevention, and a driver monitoring system.

Jaecoo will provide an 8-year/unlimited kilometre vehicle warranty. Buyers also receive 12 months of roadside assistance, with the option to extend up to 8 years if servicing is maintained through Jaecoo’s authorised dealer network.

Test drives for the J8 will commence from mid-May.
