Mahindra Automotive Australia has detailed the MY26 update for the Scorpio, with the update introducing Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a revised feature set for what appears to be a single-variant line-up based around the new Z8L+. The Z8L+ will serve as the sole MY26 Scorpio specification for the Australian market.

The headline change is the inclusion of Level 2 ADAS, which brings a wide suite of driver-assistance functions for the first time in a Scorpio sold in Australia. The system package includes Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle detection, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Front Vehicle Start Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Smart Pilot Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning and High Beam Assist. Mahindra says the technology is calibrated for Australian roads and conditions.

In addition to the safety technology, the MY26 update introduces several new comfort and convenience items. Ventilated front seats, an electric park brake with auto hold, and an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror are all new additions for 2026. The model continues to use a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine producing 129kW and 400Nm, paired to a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission and a low-range 4x4 system with a rear mechanical locking differential.

The Scorpio retains Mahindra’s 4XPLOR system, which includes multiple terrain modes — Normal, Snow, Mud & Ruts and Sand — along with vehicle dynamics control and traction control. Additional stability systems include roll-over mitigation, trailer sway mitigation, hill hold control and hill descent control. The Bosch Gen 9.3 ESP suite continues as part of the overall safety package.

Standard equipment for the Z8L+ includes seven seats, LED headlamps with DRLs, projector fog lamps, LED tail lamps and sequential indicators. Exterior features include chrome door handles, power-folding mirrors, roof rails, and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels paired with a full-size steel spare. The vehicle offers a 2.5-tonne braked towing capacity.

Inside, the MY26 Scorpio includes an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch colour driver display, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, a PM2.5 air-filtration system, and USB-C charging for second-row passengers. Other features include a cooled glovebox, a smart key with push-button start, lumbar-adjustable driver’s seat, and a rich coffee-black leatherette interior with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector.

Compared to the outgoing range, the updated Z8L+ also represents a price increase. The previous Scorpio line-up was priced from $41,990 drive-away for the Z8 and $46,990 drive-away for the Z8L. The MY26 Z8L+ is priced at $48,990 drive-away, excluding metallic paint.

Mahindra says the MY26 Scorpio will begin arriving in Australian showrooms over summer. With the addition of Level 2 ADAS to the Scorpio, the brand now offers the technology as standard across its entire Australian SUV line-up, including the XUV3XO and XUV700. Mahindra continues to offer a seven-year, 150,000km warranty and seven years of roadside assistance, with terms and conditions applying.
