Toyota has recently announced the details of its all-new C-HR SUV, set for launch in Australia in the first half of 2024.

The new model will feature hybrid powertrains exclusively, marking the first instance of a hybrid-only offering from Toyota in Australia. The powertrains will be available in two configurations: a 1.8-litre version for the GXL and Koba models, and a 2.0-litre version for the new GR Sport model.

Design-wise, the new C-HR is slightly shorter and wider than its predecessor, and it maintains design elements from the original model. Three grades will be available to consumers: GXL, Koba, and GR Sport, with the GR Sport featuring an all-wheel drive.

The 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain in the GR Sport generates a combined maximum power of 145kW, whereas the 1.8-litre hybrid powertrain in the GXL and Koba models produces a combined maximum power of 103kW. This represents a nearly 15% increase in power output compared to the previous hybrid C-HR model.

The company also stated that it has reduced the size and weight of key components in the new hybrid powertrains, including a new transaxle and power control unit.

The all-new C-HR includes increased use of recycled plastics in its construction, and a new fabric for the seat upholstery made from recycled PET bottles.

It also features a panoramic roof design with infra-red reducing coatings, which removes the need for a conventional sunshade and reduces the overall weight of the vehicle.

The interior includes a fully digital instrument cluster for some grades, and all models will have Android Auto™ and wireless Apple CarPlay® compatibility through a 12.3-inch multimedia system.

Further information, including Australian specifications for the new Toyota C-HR, will be released closer to its 2024 launch.
