Pricing for the highly anticipated Geely EX5 electric SUV has surfaced ahead of its official Australian launch on March 11th, with figures published by RedBook revealing a starting price of $43,490 for the Complete trim and $47,490 for the Inspire trim before on-road costs.

These figures place the EX5 well below key competitors in the mid-size EV segment, including the BYD Sealion 7, Kia EV5, and Tesla Model Y, making it one of the most affordable electric SUVs in its class.

With the BYD Sealion 7 Premium priced at $54,990, the Kia EV5 Air starting from $56,770, and the Tesla Model Y Juniper RWD at $63,400, Geely’s aggressive pricing strategy positions the EX5 as a compelling alternative for budget-conscious EV buyers.

The leaked pricing is notably lower than earlier indications from Geely Australia, which had suggested a price range between $49,000 and $55,000.

Set to arrive in Australian ports imminently, the first shipment of EX5 SUVs will be distributed across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth.

The EX5 is a mid-size electric SUV measuring 4615mm in length and 1901mm in width, with a 2750mm wheelbase. Under the bonnet, it features a 160kW/320Nm mounted electric motor powered by a 60.2kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a claimed WLTP range of up to 430km for the base model on 18-inch wheels, while the higher-spec Inspire trim with 19-inch wheels offers around 410km.

Inside, the base Complete trim comes equipped with leatherette upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, LED lighting, a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. The flagship Inspire trim adds a panoramic sunroof, interior ambient lighting, powered tailgate, front parking sensors, a 13.4-inch head-up display, a premium 1000W Flyme 16-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, and a reclining front passenger lounge chair with a leg rest. One notable omission at launch is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though Geely has confirmed that both features will be added via an over-the-air software update.

With its combination of competitive pricing, strong feature set, and decent real-world range, the Geely EX5 is shaping up as a serious contender in Australia’s growing electric vehicle market. Its sharp pricing strategy could attract buyers who might have otherwise considered the Tesla Model Y, Kia EV5, or BYD Sealion 7, provided Geely can deliver strong aftersales support and meet expected demand. With the official launch just weeks away, the EX5 is poised to shake up the segment as one of the most affordable yet well-equipped electric SUVs available.
