The 2026 Renault Scenic E-Tech has been confirmed for Australia, landing before the end of the year, marking the return of the nameplate to the local market after over a decade and a half. 

Two generations of the Renault Scenic compact people-mover were sold in Australia between 2001 and 2009 (stretching to 2010 for the seven-seat version). However, this time it returns to Australia as a compact electric SUV. 

As reported by CarSauce in August, Renault is set to release six new models within the next year and a half, and the Scenic E-Tech is set to be the first of those incoming models. 

Measuring 4,470mm long, 1,864mm wide (with the mirrors folded), 1,565mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,785mm, the Scenic E-Tech is slightly larger than many of its potential small electric SUV rivals such as the Kia EV3, Hyundai Kona Electric, Volvo EX30. 

Its dimensions are also comparable to some offerings on the smaller end of the mid-size electric SUV segment such as the Skoda Elroq and BYD ATTO 3. 

The Scenic E-Tech also boasts 545 litres with the rear seats up, rising to 1,670 litres with the rear bench folded. 

Riding on the AmpR Medium platform – previously known as CMF-EV – the Scenic E-Tech shares its underpinnings with its Megane E-Tech stablemate, as well as the Nissan Ariya and Leaf models. 

Australia specifications are yet to be confirmed, but overseas, the Renault Scenic E-Tech is offered in both standard and long range guises. 

The standard range features a front electric motor producing 125kW and 280Nm, sourcing electricity from a 60kWh battery. It achieves 0-100km/h in a claimed 8.6 seconds and has a maximum driving range of 430km on the WLTP cycle. 

Also featuring a front electric motor, the long range ups the outputs to 160kW and 300Nm, dispatching 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds. It features 87kWh battery, good for a maximum of 625km on the WLTP cycle.
