Mazda has announced the European launch of the CX-80, a new addition to its vehicle lineup, with availability in Australia projected for later this year.

The CX-80 is a larger alternative to the CX-60, offering additional length and a third row of seats.

The second-row seating arrangement comes in two variants: a standard three-seat configuration or an optional two-seat layout with a central console.

Mazda's Kodo design language is evident in the CX-80, which also includes new technological features such as Mazda Connected Services and a Trailer Hitch View for easier towing.

The vehicle will launch with three hybrid powertrain options: the e-Skyactiv PHEV, and two other engines, each utilising a 48V mild hybrid system.

The PHEV option provides a power output of 241 kW and torque of 500Nm.

The CX-80 is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and features Mazda's i-Activ All-Wheel Drive. Additionally, Mazda Intelligent Drive Select is included, offering several driving modes.

The SUV's design incorporates double wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, aiming to deliver a balance of comfort and handling, supported by a rear-biased all-wheel drive system.

For safety, the CX-80 includes the i-Activsense suite of driver assistance features, which encompasses a range of systems from cruising and traffic support to collision mitigation and lane keeping.
