JAC T9 Dual Cab Ute Receives Five-Star ANCAP Safety Rating
JAC T9 dual cab ute awarded five-star ANCAP safety rating, excelling in crash tests and active safety features.
The JAC T9 dual cab ute has been awarded a five-star safety rating by ANCAP, Australasia’s independent voice on vehicle safety. This rating highlights the vehicle’s strong performance in various safety tests, joining the competitive Australian ute segment.
In physical crash tests, the JAC T9 achieved full points for driver protection in the full-width frontal, side impact, far side impact, and whiplash tests. The vehicle demonstrated adequate protection for the driver’s chest in the oblique pole and frontal offset (MPDB) tests.
The protection of the rear passenger’s chest in the full-width frontal test was assessed as marginal. Full points were awarded for child occupant protection in the frontal offset and side impact tests, although the rear centre seating position is not recommended for child restraints due to the lack of a top tether anchorage.
In comparison to the Mitsubishi Triton, the JAC T9 showed room for improvement in ‘crash compatibility,’ recording a 6.22 point penalty out of 8.00 in the MPDB test. The Mitsubishi Triton recorded a 3.16 point penalty.
The JAC T9 comes standard with a comprehensive suite of active safety features on both the Oasis and Haven variants. The vehicle achieved full points in various autonomous emergency braking (AEB) tests and lane support system tests, including scenarios involving motorcycles, pedestrians, and cyclists.
The T9 is also equipped with an anti-dooring system, warning the driver of approaching cyclists when the vehicle is stopped, although it does not prevent door openings automatically. The ANCAP safety rating for the JAC T9 applies to the 2.0 litre diesel variants sold in Australia.

The five-star ANCAP safety rating for the JAC T9 indicates that the vehicle has demonstrated strong performance across a range of crash tests and safety assessments. This rating reflects the ute's ability to protect occupants in the event of a collision, as well as its effectiveness in preventing accidents through advanced safety features.
The JAC T9 is equipped with a broad range of active safety features, including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane support systems, and an anti-dooring system. These features are designed to detect and react to other vehicles, motorbikes, pedestrians, and cyclists, enhancing overall safety on the road.
In comparison to the Mitsubishi Triton, the JAC T9 showed room for improvement in crash compatibility, particularly in the frontal offset (MPDB) test. The JAC T9 recorded a higher penalty of 6.22 points out of 8.00, whereas the Triton had a lower penalty of 3.16 points, indicating that the Triton performs better in minimizing damage to other vehicles in a collision.
While the JAC T9 scored full points for child occupant protection in frontal offset and side impact tests, there is a limitation regarding child restraints in the rear centre seating position. The vehicle does not have a top tether anchorage in this position, making it unsuitable for securing certain types of child seats.
