The JAC T9 Ute has been recalled in Australia due to a fault with the restraining bolts on the left and right side curtain airbags. 

The recall comes as a result of the left and right curtain airbag restraining bolts possibly not being sufficiently tightened, affecting 161 vehicles built between 2023 and 2024. 

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the retaining bolts on the left and right-side curtain airbags may not have been fastened with sufficient torque. As a result, the airbags may not deploy as intended” the original recall notice reads. “In the event of an accident, the airbags not deploying as intended could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.” 

This is the second time the JAC T9 ute has been recalled in Australia since its local release in 2024.  

In December 2024, a recall was issued for 37 T9s due to a turbo actuator module fault that could cause the vehicle to enter limp-home mode. 

The JAC T9 that purchased by CarSauce was one of the vehicles affected by the December recall.

As for the current notice, customers are being urged to contact their JAC dealership to have their airbag retraining bolt issue rectified free of charge.
