Honda Australia introduces refreshed HR-V with new e:HEV X hybrid model, updated design, and enhanced connectivity.
Honda Australia has announced the arrival of the refreshed 2025 HR-V, introducing a new hybrid model and multiple upgrades to its design and technology offerings.
The latest iteration of the HR-V showcases several exterior updates, including a wider grille, a revamped front bumper, and redesigned tail lights, enhancing the vehicle's visual appeal.
The interior has also received some improvements, notably a revised center console featuring a new storage compartment equipped with a wireless charging pad, aimed at increasing convenience for users.
Under the hood, the facelifted HR-V continues with Honda's e:HEV two-motor hybrid powertrain, known for its balance of fuel efficiency and performance. The hybrid models now boast enhanced energy management controls, which improve quietness and responsiveness during urban driving, although the powertrain's output remains unchanged.
The Honda HR-V Vi X is equipped with a non-hybrid 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that delivers 89kW of power and 145Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The current e:HEV powertrain uses the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, however pairs 2 electric motors (only one driving the front wheels) which outputs a total of 96kW and 253Nm. It’s mated to an e-CVT transmission.
The HR-V will now offer three models: the petrol Vi X, the new hybrid e:HEV X, and the high-grade hybrid e:HEV L. The addition of the e:HEV X aims to broaden the vehicle’s appeal with its more accessible price point, however pricing remains uncomfirmed. The color palette has been expanded to include new options like Slate Grey and Botanical Green, the latter available only in the hybrid models.
Pricing for the refreshed Honda HR-V is yet to be confirmed. Currently, the 2024 Honda HR-V Vi X is available for $36,700 driveaway, while the 2024 Honda HR-V e:HEV L is priced at $47,000 driveaway.
Safety enhancements are also central to the new HR-V, with the Honda SENSING suite now featuring updated systems such as Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow. New to the suite are Traffic Jam Assist and Adaptive Driving Beam, exclusive to the hybrid grades.
Additionally, all HR-V models will come equipped with the Honda Connect mobile application and server platform, which now includes a complimentary 5-year subscription, enhancing the ownership experience with various connected services.
Every purchase of the new HR-V also includes the Honda Road Head Guarantee, offering a 5-year unlimited kilometer warranty, five low-price scheduled services at $199 each, and five years of premium roadside assistance.
