GAC has announced Australian pricing for its AION V electric SUV, confirming a starting figure of $42,590 before on-road costs.

The model will launch in Premium and Luxury variants as part of GAC’s three-model foray into the local market, with the latter commanding a $2000 premium.

Power comes from a 150kW front-mounted electric motor producing 210Nm of torque. A 75.26kWh LFP battery provides a claimed driving range of 510km under the WLTP test cycle.

Charging capability includes DC fast charging from 30 to 80 per cent in a claimed 16 minutes when connected to a 180kW charger.

An 11kW AC onboard charger enables a full recharge in approximately 8.5 hours.

The AION V measures 4605mm long, 1854mm wide and 1686mm tall, positioning it among mid-size electric SUVs such as the BYD Atto 3, Geely EX5 and Leapmotor C10.

The Atto 3 is priced from $39,990 for the Essential and $44,990 for the Premium, while the Geely EX5 ranges from $40,990 to $44,990 with up to 430km of range.

The Leapmotor C10 is priced from $45,888 and features a 69.9kWh battery, with 160kW of power to the rear wheels.

Cargo capacity spans from 427 litres to 978 litres depending on rear seat configuration.

The model rides on GAC’s 400V EV platform and supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality for powering external devices.

Standard equipment includes a 14.6-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control with a heat pump and heated and ventilated front seats.

The Luxury trim adds leather upholstery, front massage seats and a built-in 6.6-litre refrigerator.

Safety systems include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and a 360-degree camera system. Dual front, side, centre and curtain airbags are fitted, and the cabin is compatible with i-Size child seats.

GAC will support the AION V with an eight-year unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty for electrified models.

The battery is covered by an eight-year/200,000km warranty, and the full range includes five years of roadside assistance.

The AION V will be available to order nationally from 18 November 2025. Customers who purchase before 31 December 2025 will also receive a complimentary 22kW home wall charger, $1,000 cashback and a $500 charge or fuel card depending on powertrain.
