A new electric SUV has been teased by Subaru and is likely to be based on the new Toyota C-HR+. 

Subaru of America have released a teaser image of the new EV, set to be badged as the 2026 Subaru Uncharted. 

Many have been quick to point out that – from what little has been seen of the new car – it bears a striking resemblance to the Toyota C-HR+, the electric version of the brand’s compact SUV. 

The C-HR+ rides on the e-TNGA platform for Toyota’s electric vehicles, which it also shares with the bz4X and its sister car, the Subaru Solterra as well as the Subaru Trailseeker. 

Given visual similarities between the C-HR+ and the vehicle featured in the teaser image – and given the history of e-TNGA platform sharing between the two brands – it’s highly likely that Subaru Uncharted is a rebadged Toyota C-HR+. 

The Toyota C-HR+ is set to launch overseas in select European markets in late-2025 – with a full rollout expected in Europe and North American in 2026 – with two battery choices and a choice of front or all-wheel-drive. 

Electricity for the entry-level C-HR+ will come from a 57.7kWh battery, with an electric motor driving the front wheels, an output of 123kW, and 455km of WLTP range. A larger 77kWh battery ups the range to 600km.

An all-wheel-drive dual motor variant will also be available with the larger battery, producing 252kW and capable of 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds and a range of 525km. 

With an expected close relation between the Toyota C-HR+ and the Subaru Uncharted, it is likely that the latter will have similar specifications to the former, although this is yet to be officially confirmed. 

The Subaru Uncharted is set to be revealed on July 17th at 7:30pm Eastern Time (July 18th, 9:30am Australian Eastern Standard Time). 

No plans have been announced to bring either model to Australia as of the present.
