The MG3 has been recalled in Australia due to a driver’s seat rail defect, affecting 10,516 examples of the hatchback model. 

Initially flagged in Euro NCAP testing earlier this year, the issue could cause the driver’s seat to move in the event of an accident. According to a media release from MG, the seat slid forward by 111.5mm on the centre console side. 

Specifically, the issue affects MG3 examples built between the 6th of March 2024 and the 30th of July 2025. 

“In the event of collision, the inner side of the cushion frame may move forward and downwards much further than expected, inadvertently contacting the unlocking lever and then the locking pin, thereby causing the inboard rail to unlock,” the original recall notice reads. 

MG3 owners affected by the recall will be contacted by MG, asking them to schedule an appointment for a free-of-charge repair, estimated to take between 30 minutes and one hour.
