MG ZS HYBRID+ Gets Fix to Hybrid System, MG3 Hybrid Fix Also Confirmed
MG’s ZS HYBRID+ update refines power and battery management after CarSauce tests, with MG3 updates also planned.
MG Motor Australia has released their software update for the ZS HYBRID+, following December’s patch that addressed an acceleration issue identified by CarSauce.
During its initial review, CarSauce recorded a 0–100km/h time of 24.59 seconds when the battery’s State of Charge (SOC) was depleted, a figure significantly higher than MG’s official 8.7-second claim.
“In December, MG reviewed and refined some software presets to optimise the driving experience for a wider range of local conditions,” an MG Australia spokesperson said. “This latest software update is designed to deliver a better balance between efficiency and power, addressing the feedback raised.”
MG Motor Australia’s Head of Product, Akshat Ahuja, added, “MG is committed to continuously enhancing the driving experience for our owners. We focus on refining power delivery across various driving conditions to ensure every journey in the ZS HYBRID+ is efficient while providing power when needed.”
According to MG, the engine now engages more frequently when vehicle speed exceeds 100km/h to sustain power based on the battery’s SOC. On inclines at moderate or higher speeds, the system is recalibrated to provide a more consistent blend of power and efficiency.
MG also reports that the HYBRID+ powertrain actively charges the battery under heavier loads. The software adjustments aim to maintain a moderate battery charge, addressing performance drops caused by depleted SOC, as highlighted by CarSauce’s testing.
“Our global team is also looking to refine the software in the MG3 HYBRID+ models to deliver these same refinements this year,” Ahuja concluded. MG will notify MG3 owners when the update is ready and provide details on how it will be made available.
MG advises contacting local MG dealerships or following official MG channels for the latest details on the software rollout and any further announcements.

CarSauce’s initial testing revealed a significant drop in acceleration when the battery’s charge was low, leading MG to introduce a second update aimed at balancing power delivery and efficiency.
The update recalibrates power delivery at higher speeds and on inclines, and it also manages battery charging more proactively under heavier loads.
MG indicates that maintaining a moderate battery charge can help sustain performance without compromising overall efficiency, though real-world results may vary.
MG has not announced any additional costs. Owners can contact their local dealership for information on updating their vehicles.
