Kia has confirmed that its all-electric SUV, the EV3, will launch in Australia between March and April 2025. The EV3 offers a driving range of up to 600km (WLTP) and fast-charging capabilities. Further details, including pricing and trim variants, will be announced closer to the launch.

The EV3 features Kia’s i-Pedal 3.0, designed to improve one-pedal driving. Drivers can adjust regenerative braking across four levels, depending on road conditions, providing flexibility for both city and highway driving. The system retains the last-used setting after the vehicle is restarted. Kia’s Smart Regenerative System 3.0 also uses sensors and navigation data to adjust speed and braking, helping drivers manage different driving environments. The system can bring the vehicle to a complete stop when needed.

To improve efficiency, the EV3 has been designed with aerodynamic features such as optimised wheels and underbody panels, resulting in a low drag coefficient of 0.26Cd. The EV3 is equipped with an 81.4 kWh battery, offering a 22% increase in energy density over the Niro EV. This system is supported by advanced thermal management technology, which helps reduce charging times. Under 350kW fast-charging conditions, the EV3 can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes.

The EV3 includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing it to power external devices like laptops and small appliances. This feature provides additional functionality for users in situations where conventional power sources may not be available.

Kia conducted testing in extreme conditions to ensure the EV3's performance remains reliable, even in cold climates. The vehicle’s heat pump and thermal management systems help maintain battery efficiency in low temperatures, while the liquid-cooled battery system is designed to improve charging speed and reliability.

Inside, the EV3’s cabin offers additional footwell space due to a more compact air conditioning unit. The vehicle also features modern connectivity systems, allowing passengers to stay connected while driving. Kia has plans to introduce both AWD and GT variants to expand the EV3’s range, offering different options for customers based on their needs.

The EV3 is positioned as an all-electric SUV that brings a range of features aimed at improving driving efficiency and convenience. Its Australian launch in 2025 is part of Kia’s broader strategy to offer electric vehicle options in the local market.
