The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N has been revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, joining the IONIQ 5 N as the brand’s second electrified performance model. 

The IONIQ 6 N shares its powertrain with its IONIQ 5 N stablemate, sporting a dual-motor setup – with electricity coming from an 82.5kWh NMC battery – with a combined output of 448kW and 740Nm. 

In N Grin Boost mode – which is activated via a button on the steering wheel – this output is upped to 478kW and 770Nm. 

With Hyundai’s N Launch Control activated, the IONIQ 6 N achieves 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 257km/h. 

N Torque Distribution allows drivers to adjust the distribution of torque between the IONIQ 6 N’s electric motors, with even the option to shut down the front motor to send all of its torque to the rear wheels. 

Hyundai’s N Battery management system allows the temperature of the battery to be managed depending on the chosen mode, consisting of ‘Drag’, ‘Sprint’ and ‘Endurance’. For instance, the optimum battery temperature is higher in ‘Drag’ mode for maximum output and lower in ‘Endurance’ mode for greater efficiency. 

The N e-shift function that debuted on the IONIQ 5 N is back for the IONIQ 6 N – tuned to simulate shorter gear ratios for a more sporting feel – while also debuting the N Ambient Shift Light, which integrates a shift indicator into the interior’s ambient lighting. 

The IONIQ 6 N also features N Active Sound+ – playing simulated engine noises through the stereo sound system – with different modes to choose from including the internal-combustion sounding ‘Ignition’ mode as well as the more futuristically inspired ‘Evolution’ and ‘Lightspeed’ modes. 

N Drift Optimizer is also back, allowing drivers to customise drift initiation, angle and wheel spin. 

The IONIQ 6 N also arrives with aerodynamic revisions including a swan neck rear wing, as well as chassis and suspension changes such as the new electronically controlled suspension system, using a host of sensors around the vehicle to constantly adjust and optimise the dampers for improved handling and ride quality. 

Exclusively developed Pirelli P-Zero 5 tyres also join the list of performance upgrades for the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N. 

While not officially confirmed, the IONIQ 6 N is expected to achieve approximately 450km of WLTP driving range and command a price tag of approximately $110,000 before on-road costs when it eventually arrives in Australia. 

An official Australian release date for the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N is yet to be confirmed, but it is expected some time in 2026.
