GWM Cannon Alpha Recalled
Nearly 2,500 examples of the GWM Cannon Alpha ute are being recalled in Australia due to a power steering wiring harness fault.
The GWM Cannon Alpha has been recalled in Australia with a power steering wiring harness fault affecting 2,458 examples of the ute model.
All variants of the Cannon Alpha are included in the recall, affecting Diesel, HEV and PHEV variants built between 2023 and 2025.
This is the first recall for the GWM Cannon Alpha since its Australian launch in 2024.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the Electronic Power Steering wiring harness may come into contact with the driveshaft when driving and become damaged. As a result, the vehicle may experience a loss of power steering or engine shutdown without warning,” the recall notice reads.
Cannon Alpha owners are being urged to contact their GWM dealership to have their vehicle repaired free of charge.

In the event that a power steering fault occurs or an engine shuts down occurs, owners are also being advised to pull over in a safe location to have their vehicle towed.
