Chery has announced that the 2025 Tiggo 4 Pro, its smallest and likely most affordable model, will be available in Australian showrooms by the end of this year.

This new addition will offer a competitive option in the small SUV market, positioning itself against models like the Hyundai Kona and GWM Haval Jolion.

The Tiggo 4 Pro is approximately six centimeters shorter than the Chery Omoda 5, which is already available in Australia.

Originally launched in China in 2017 as the Tiggo 5x, the Tiggo 4 Pro has undergone three styling updates and will feature the latest facelifted version revealed after the 2024 Beijing Motor Show.

This updated version includes redesigned front and rear fascias and a new interior with twin screens similar to those in the Omoda 5.

Chery Australia's COO, Lucas Harris, indicated that the Tiggo 4 Pro could be released as early as late 2024, following the launch of the electric Omoda E5.

Pricing details have not been confirmed, but the Tiggo 4 Pro is expected to be priced below the Omoda 5's starting price of $33,990 drive-away.

This would place it in the sub-$30,000 small SUV market, competing with non-hybrid versions of the GWM Haval Jolion and other entry-level SUVs.

In right-hand-drive markets like South Africa, the Tiggo 4 Pro is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 108kW and 210Nm.

Harris mentioned that there is a significant opportunity in the sub-$30,000 market for an affordable SUV option.

Images of the updated Tiggo 4 Pro show a new front fascia and a full-width LED tail-light bar with 'CHERY' branding.

The interior features dual displays for instruments and infotainment, integrated into one wide panel, along with a compact electronic gear selector.

The Tiggo 4 Pro measures 4318mm in length with a 2610mm wheelbase, making it slightly shorter than the Kia Seltos.

The Tiggo 4 Pro will compete with entry-level versions of the Mitsubishi ASX, MG ZST, and GWM Haval Jolion, which start around the $26,000 drive-away mark. If priced competitively, the Tiggo 4 Pro could become one of the most affordable new SUVs in the Australian market.
