Australia's Top 10 Best-Selling Vehicles of September 2025
With 5,047 utes sold, the Toyota HiLux was Australia’s best-selling vehicle for September 2025, ahead of the Ford Ranger and Tesla Model Y.
The Toyota HiLux has once again claimed the top spot as Australia's best-selling vehicle for the month, with 5,047 examples of the popular ute model sold during September according to VFACTS data.
After losing first position to the Ford Ranger in August, the HiLux outsold its ute rival by 180 units. The Ranger slots into second position on September’s sales charts with 4,867 utes sold.
According to data from the Electric Vehicle Council, 3,927 Tesla Model Y electric SUVs were sold during September, figures strong enough to place Australia’s best-selling BEV third in overall sales figures for the month.
The Ford Everest couldn’t quite match its September sales feat from last year, falling short by 344 units. However, its 2,558-strong sales figure – marking a 16.11 per cent increase over August – was good enough for fourth place.
After taking a podium position on the monthly sales charts in August, Toyota RAV4 sales slumped by 37.94 per cent in September compared to the previous month, with the medium SUV model slotting into fifth position with 2,554 examples sold.
Taking sixth place, the Chery Tiggo 4 returns to the top 10 after its absence among Australia’s best-sellers in August, with the 2,048 sales being posted for the budget compact SUV.
Isuzu D-Max sales have decreased for the third consecutive month, but the 1,989 examples sold were still good enough for seventh place in the monthly sales standings.
For the first time since its Australian launch, the BYD Sealion 7 has appeared in the top 10, taking eighth place with 1,887 cars sold. It was also the second-best-selling electric vehicle in Australia for the month, behind the Tesla Model Y.
Trailing the Sealion 7 by just two cars was the Toyota LandCruiser Prado, the fourth vehicle from the brand to feature in the top 10 during September, with 1,885 examples sold. The GWM Haval Jolion placed behind the Prado by just four cars, with 1,881 sales during September, appearing in the top 10 for the first time this year.
