Hyundai has officially confirmed the all-new ELEXIO electric SUV for Australia, with the mid-size EV expected to arrive in early 2026.

Developed in partnership with Beijing Hyundai, the ELEXIO is now open for pre-orders in China, priced from RMB 119,800 to 150,000 (around $25,000–$32,000 AUD) depending on trim.

Built on Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP platform, the ELEXIO will sit between the smaller Kona Electric and the larger Ioniq 5 in the brand’s local lineup.

The ELEXIO is built on Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP electric platform and will be produced in China.

It’s the first Hyundai EV manufactured there, supporting the company’s “In China, For China, To Global” strategy and enabling more competitive pricing in export markets such as Australia.

Measuring 4615mm long, 1875mm wide and 1673mm tall on a 2750mm wheelbase, the ELEXIO closely aligns dimensionally with the Kia EV5.

It is expected to offer a five-seat layout with a family-oriented focus, designed to appeal to buyers seeking an affordable mid-size electric SUV alternative to the Tesla Model Y.

Power comes from an 88.1kWh battery, paired with a single 160kW motor driving the front wheels.

This configuration delivers over 500km of range on the WLTP standard, while the Chinese CLTC figure is 722km.

In China, an additional 233kW dual-motor all-wheel drive version is available, though Australian specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.

Charging from 30 to 80 percent takes approximately 27 minutes using DC fast charging.

The ELEXIO also incorporates advanced driver assistance and occupant safety systems, including a "720-degree armoured body structure" made from 77.5 percent high-strength steel and a nine-airbag setup.

Inside, the ELEXIO features a 27-inch ultra-thin 4K display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, along with a Cyber Eye head-up display and Dolby Atmos audio through an eight-speaker BOSE system.

Hyundai also claims up to "46 flexible storage areas" and a boot capacity of 506 litres, expanding to 1,540 litres with the rear seats folded.

The ELEXIO’s Australian pricing and final specifications will be announced closer to the launch in 2026.
