The Leapmotor C10 REEV plug-in hybrid SUV is set to launch in Australia with a limited-time price of $45,900 drive-away for the Style variant of the mid-size SUV.

Just like the fully-electric version of the Leapmotor C10, the REEV – which stands for Range Extender Electric Vehicle – comes with an electric motor sending 160kW and 320Nm to the rear wheels, fed from a 28.4kWh battery and providing up to 170 kilometres of driving on a single charge (NEDC).

However, the REEV also gains a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which works like an electric generator – keeping the battery topped-up with power – rather than driving the wheels directly.

Together, with a charged battery and full tank of fuel, the C10 REEV has a combined driving range of up to 1150 kilometres (on the less-stringent NEDC test) – theoretically allowing the vehicle to drive from Canberra to the Gold Coast without stopping.

Leapmotor claims a combined fuel consumption rating of 0.9 litre of fuel per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of 21g/km, though this is with a full battery.

While AC and DC compatible, the C10 REEV can be charged from 30 to 80 per cent in less than 20 minutes using a DC fast charger.

Inside, the Leapmotor comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch high-definition infotainment screen, satellite navigation, voice control, 360-degree cameras, and an 840-watt 12-speaker surround sound system – but no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is advertised.

There’s also wireless smartphone charging, USB ports, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a fixed panoramic glass roof with power sunshade, electric front seats, and 546 litres of cargo space – increasing to 1375 litres with the second-row seats folded flat.

The C10 REEV Style also comes standard with automatic LED headlights, heated exterior mirrors, concealed door handles, rear parking sensors, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Leapmotor’s standard safety suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, emergency lane-keep assist, front and rear collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert and assist, intelligent speed assist, driver fatigue monitor, door exit warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, traffic jam assist, autonomous emergency braking, and blind-spot alert.

Available for $49,900 drive-away until the end of June 2025, the C10 REEV Design adds heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, air quality monitor, rear privacy tint, a powered tailgate, LED rear light bar with animated indicators, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Buyers have the choice of five colours: Pearl White, Terra Grey, Jade Green, Midnight Grey, and Metallic Black.

Leapmotor provides a six-year/150,000km warranty, an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty, eight years of roadside assistance, and eight years of capped-price servicing.
