The 2025 BMW iX is set to arrive in Australia in the middle of the year, with the electric SUV receiving its major mid-life update.

Along with refreshed styling and updated features, BMW says the new iX has received a 17 per cent faster charging time, a 25 per cent power increase, and a 38 per cent increase in its driving range.

While the rest of the line-up will be announced closer to its launch in mid-2025, the BMW iX xDrive45 M Sport will replace the xDrive40 Sport as the entry-level variant, priced from $142,900 before on-road costs – an increase of $6000 compared to the outgoing model.

However, buyers now get a Sky Lounge panoramic sunroof and heated steering wheel as standard.

The German carmaker has also increased the energy content of the battery by 30 per cent, with the 94.8kWh providing a claimed driving range of up to 602 kilometres on a single charge.

The dual electric motors now produce 60kW and 30Nm more than the xDrive40, with the xDrive45 sending a total combined output of 300kW and 700Nm to all four wheels for a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.1 seconds.

Along with revised suspension, the base BMW iX now comes standard with adaptive LED headlights, illuminated kidney grilles, tyre-pressure monitoring system, vegetable tanned leather, and an M Sport package which includes an M leather steering wheel, M electric seats with massage function, and M interior trim in dark silver.

The iX is available with six exterior colours at no extra cost, and comes with BMW’s five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty – together with an eight-year/160,000 battery warranty.

Buyers can also choose from three additional BMW Individual colours, including Storm Bay for $2400, Frozen Deep Grey for $5500, and Tanzanite Blue – available from April 2025.

The 2025 BMW iX range will launch in mid-2025, kicking off with the new entry-level xDrive45 M Sport – with additional variants to be announced at a later date.
