The 2021 Ford Everest has been recalled in Australia due to a tow bar hitch issue, affecting 701 previous-generation examples of the SUV model.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the tow bar hitch may not have been welded to the required specifications and could detach from the tow bar whilst driving,” the original recall notice reads.

However, a caravan or trailer will remain attached provided the safety chains have been fitted correctly, according to the recall notice.

Everest owners affected by the recall will be contacted by Ford Australia, asking them to schedule an appointment to have the issue rectified for free.

For more information, customers can contact Ford Australia via email, phone or their website.

You can find the original recall notice and the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list of affected vehicles here.
